    1. Thank you for your question.

Since babies can develop neonatal jaundice which is a normal phenomenon, this often disappears within 2-3 weeks. Also, if Child is not breastfeeding adequately or able to receive milk efficiently, they can develop jaundice. Another common cause is a blood mismatch between mother and baby.
Other causes of jaundice include injury or a bruise during delivery with possible internal bleeding, liver disease, infections, enzyme deficiencies, certain drugs or medicines or a defect in the baby’s red blood cells.

So what can you do to help this baby?
      1. Make sure the baby is feeding adequately and getting good amount of breast milk.
      2. Consult a paediatrician if:
a.) Jaundice spreads or becomes even darker
b.) Baby develops fever of greater than 38°C
c.) Feeds poorly, is very drowsy or unarousable or lethargic
d.) High pitched or inconsolable crying
e.) any other danger signs like convulsions, severe vomiting or difficulty breathing.

If there are no other constitutional symptoms, the jaundice will disappear itself in 2-3 weeks with good nutrition, adequate exposure to sunlight and tender love and care.

      Best wishes.
